About the Open Position

GHSP, a global technology organization, is currently looking for an Advanced Test Development Engineer to join our Headquarters team in Holland, Michigan. Hybrid work options available.

 

Value of the Role: 

Develops LabVIEW software, designs, organizes, directs and completes technical work required to support the development of new and existing product validation and verification equipment to support multiple disciplines during the development and launch of new and existing products within the company. Manages and improves the equipment development process improving throughput, reducing cost and minimizing risk. Domestic and international travel required as needed.

 

Valuable Job Functions: 

LabVIEW software development
Development of software modules that the TDE groups throughout the world use to develop testing systems. This role needs expert use of National Instruments hardware used for data acquisition and control. This role has extensive experience with design and troubleshooting of testing systems and a strong understanding of the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, CAN, LIN is required for this position. Work also requires expert knowledge of Ethernet, Serial communications, VISA, UART, SPI, and I2C.
 
Assist Validation and Systems Engineers in the creation and management of validation equipment plans for customer specific programs.
Responsible for the execution and development of the test equipment development plan to meet project testing capabilities and timing. Provides input to Management to forecast validation equipment capabilities needs, development and updates as needed for new product test needs.
 
Acts as Test Systems Manager
Reviews engineering specifications, equipment standards and designs of new test equipment and/or redesign of existing test equipment. Responsible for testing projects including the complete development, fabrication, procurement, installation, programming and calibration of instrumentation and equipment required to test and record data per customer specifications. This also includes the advanced development of new test systems and equipment.
 
Assure accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility of all tests and test set-ups per customer specifications.
Provides fully vetted test systems to the validation lab with proper supporting documentation.
 
Interact with internal customers on validation equipment issues and test analysis.
Supports Development team meetings providing input on Tester development timing and delivery. Delivers status updates as required and seeks out information as needed to accomplish the tasks.
 
Provides design for validation input during all product design phases.
Defines tester specific DFT needs and works with Systems Engineers to ensure product compliance.
 
Provides design \ validation risk analysis during product design phases.
Identify primary, secondary and tertiary validation concerns to System Engineer(s). Provide accelerated validation solutions to minimize risk and lead-time. Develops advanced validation equipment as needed to reduce validation duration, reduce validation cost and reduce validation risk.
 
Provide product design improvement and updated test solutions during product design and validation phases of product development.
Interact with System Engineers and Product Development Teams to provide product design direction for new and current products. Researches and recommends new design enhancements to improve product testability and reliability.
 
Leads and assists validation failure root-cause analysis with System Engineer(s) offering design solutions and optimizations.
Assist in validation failure root-cause analysis with System Engineer(s) offering design solutions and optimizations. Provides lab support to manage issues associated with product testing and reliability and drives integration of these lessons learned into new product designs.
 
Assure complete, accurate and thorough data banking of all validation documentation.
Perform data analysis including data mining and statistical data analysis when required. Correlates test results to predictive analytical results.
 
Participates as an integral member of the Engineering Team
Adheres to and maintains quality system requirements. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Engineering Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas lacking cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues effecting cohesiveness. Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Are You A Good Fit For This Job?

 

You could be right for this job if you have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • 8+ years of experience with LabVIEW software development, Electrical, Controls, and Test Development in product engineering/validation.
  • National Instrument Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) certification and/or 8 years of LabVIEW programming experience with code for review required.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required as needed.
  • Ability to attend early and late meetings with global team and speak English fluently.
